“Another Dark Day in Benue: Renewed Herdsmen Attacks Leave Many Dead in Agatu, Apa”

Another wave of bloodshed has swept across Benue State, as suspected herdsmen launched fresh and deadly attacks on communities in Agatu and Apa Local Government Areas. The gruesome incidents, which occurred on the evening of Monday, June 9, have once again raised serious concerns about the fragile state of security in Nigeria’s Middle Belt.
It was gathered that along the Odugbeho–Ogbaulu road in Agatu, gunmen killed Sunday Dutse—a native of Odejo and younger brother of a former Agatu LGA chairman who had been displaced by earlier violence and was taking refuge in Ogwule‑Kaduna .
Also that same day a separate ambush claimed the lives of three young men, two locals and one from Ugbokpo In Apa LGA’s Edikw‑G’Icho community.
Despite the recent visit by high-ranking military officials, including the Chief of Army Staff, who pledged enhanced security in vulnerable areas, these assaults still occurred.
